Why the sarcasm?

I'm echoing what Tom Engibous said in a recent speech. Perhaps he doesn't know what he's talking about and Kurlak does.

<<<. . . Today I would like to talk with you about the "new" TI, the opportunity we have before us, and what we are doing to exploit that opportunity. I want to talk with you about Digital Signal Processing - what it is and why we are remaking our company to be the world leader in that market. I'll begin with the vision and strategic direction that is guiding us.. . .

One of the steps that we took as part of our strategic direction was to review our business portfolio. We knew that to be the leader in the digital age, that we needed to focus all our human and financial resources.

A little more than a year ago, we were a more diversified company with businesses in semiconductors, defense, software and notebook computers. Now, nine divestitures later, TI is focused on being a premier electronics company. The defense, computer and software businesses are gone. As are several smaller businesses and development activities.

The future for TI is in Digital Signal Processing or DSP Solutions. We are the world leader in DSPs with a market share larger than our two nearest competitors combined. Our strategy is to widen the gap between us and our competitors. We are committing the full weight of TI's financial and human resources to make that happen. . .>>>
