Sandra,

Exhaustion gaps don't need to be filled. They occur when a stock has run down to such a ridiculously low price that the gap up off the bottom is at a level that would take another ridiculously overdone selloff to close. The word exhaustion implies that there is no more strong selling left in the supply/demand dynamic.
