Excellent take on Bob's position as a "market maker" in TXN. That's exactly what he is if he insists on trading the stock from an underlying long position. He's also doing it with decidely imperfect information, and certainly much less than the NYSE specialist. Not a good position to be in, in my opinion.

I would also agree that what management says is not what matters. It's what they DO relative to their business plan OVER TIME that counts. TXN has a pretty good track record over the past 5 years on this score.
