I think country living helps. Life is life. I never enjoyed killing the chickens. I always knew they were just like me--except I was (perhaps) smarter. We all excel in some things and we know this is true for all species. We know evolution is true. It is a fact. But we don't know who is top dog or if that concept is even relevant. We cannot talk to beatles (who were around millions of years before us). AND It is obvious to me that dogs and cats DO think. (they do have brains--right!). Everything that lives must kill. That is fundamental. Even if you only eat carrots...you have killed LIFE.
