450F is a high temperature. According to this chart.

that is Gas Mark 8. Our oven goes up to Gas Mark 9, so I dont think we can get to 500F.

I'll give it a try. Gas is good in some ways. One of the by products of burning gas is water vapour so their should be no problem there.

I've made the New York Times recipe of no-knead bread about a dozen times since I discovered it about three years ago. It has always turned out well. The recipe calls for 450 F; the video 500 F. Recipe calls for 1 5/8 cups water; video, 1 1/2. Video gives short shrift to second rise. Lots of other great videos on YouTube about no-knead bread.
