"So you think it's backstabbing to mention someone in a post not addressed to them..."

If you stab someone in the front, it is frontstabbing. If you go behind the person and stab them in the back, it is called backstabbing. Try to wrap your mind around the concept. LOL!

Somebody washing your back is not any sort of stabbing. It is washing.

Simply talking about a person behind their back is not sufficient to constitute backstabbing. The dictionary makes the observation that backstabbing involves attacking someone unfairly, especially in an underhanded, deceitful manner. This is the meaning I give to it. I think if one is above board, truthful, and fair...it does not constitute backstabbing. If one is untruthful, unfair, and underhanded...it does. So (for example) if someone goes behind the back and misrepresents the values and beliefs of another person in order to cause them unearned and undeserved contumely...that would be backstabbing. Does that clarify any of your confusion?
