one more idea which crossed my mind

if i were a russian oligarch and stand to loose 3,5b why not let mother russia recapitalise cyprus

eg loan for a naval base , airstrips etc ...

that would realy piss some people off

but being under the protection of the bear from the north who controls gassflow to the west is nice :-)

cyprus is in a good position to negotiate
