Re: Trust PFD default?

"I would like to know the reason for the trust winding up. Is it a technical default by the company? "

me too. no one will admit anything. no answers yet.

"The company CTL seems to be in decent shape."

junk, but high junk ;^D. Its possible that the bond is backed only by the Embarq division of CTL ala Ameren, but Ive been told specifically thats not true by one person.

"Third party trust preferreds usually trade at a nice discount in the market, but if you can hosed like this, then they should trade at a discount. It is important for everyone to understand the risks"

thats why I brought it up to the thread. Live and learn.

"Just FYI, the 7.995% notes you are getting are trading at 105.75 in the market.

More like 105, with accured interest looking at about a 1% loss, not the worst thing I've ever owned, but unexpected for the space. Its a wonder we can buy anything knowing that hidden in each prospectus is some "out" clause for someone.
