Ah... the ultimate irony. A company burns up a lot of resources to dig gigantic holes, sets off huge explosives, smash up rocks, and extract flecks of gold, melts them into bars, which are re-melted into 1 troy ounce rounds and then stamped into a coin. After heavy guard and transport, the coins find their way to a nearby precious metals dealer where they are exchanged for a sweaty pile of cash from a nervous buyer, who then drives up high into the mountains, sneaks into the woods under cover of darkness, dugs a deep hole in the middle of an ancient meadow, and buries it. After carefully noting the location on his GPS, he races home feeling carefree and liberated, sending a text to his pals on SI telling them, "Go suck eggs," and as he presses SEND his car plunges into a ravine and bursts into flames.

The circle of gold's life.

Today should have been a good day for gold & gold stocks but it wasn't so your strategy of waiting for a clear break out makes sense for manipulated market like gold.
