wrong that's what the father's had in mind. like how they mowed down the british tyrants. They wanted us to do the same if a tyrannical gov. took over

In addition to the fact that others responding to you have pointed out, that the 2nd amendment is not about hunting. There is the simple fact that even in the absence of a 2nd amendment, and in the absence of support for the specific ideas behind it, there wouldn't be any good reason to ban rifles. According to FBI data more people where murdered in the US, by being struck with hands, feet etc. (and that excludes strangling them, which is a separate category), than rifles of all sorts every year from 2007 to 2011 (and probably before and since but the data I have only covers those years).
