Works for a couple of dozen people. How about the other 300,000,000 citizens?

>> Get this treatment and you will die anyway. Nobody lives forever.

Steve Jobs is a good example. He is dying of cancer. He is not going to live for ever. And yet, he endures cancer treatment and a pancreas transplant. And extends his life few more years.

Why? He simply wanted to live longer.

There is no doubt in my mind that he would have paid $100,000,000 (and more) for a solution to his cancer. Someday, that solution will be available. And for a while, it may very well cost that much.

>> As long as a patient is in the hospital or nursing home, "everybody" gets paid,

Simply not true. When the patient with lung and brain cancer chooses hospice , the hospital doctor (actually, a whole team of doctors) misses out on 3+ months of very expensive treatment and surgery, which for a 70 year old smoker, is paid for by medicare.

I have seen this play out several times. In all cases, the hospitals doctors strongly recommended leading edge cancer treatments; surgery, chemo and radiation.
