"Why you would cite diesel shortages in Egypt is beyond me."

Priced out of the market, as world supply has failed to keep up with the world "need", since Egypt, being broke, no longer is part of the "demand", in economic terms.

"World wide aggregates are all that matters."

US is consuming 2 M BPD less and have almost 8% unemployment, Europe (that model of economic robustness the R's are trying to emulate) is using 6% less energy than in '08 euroalert.net

"How about Japan tapping the methyl hydrates."

Total world energy produced from hydrates to date... zero; as they say in physics, there is kinetic energy, and there is potential energy.

e 325-million-ton increase in Chinese coal consumption in 2011 accounted for 87 percent of the entire world's growth for the year

China accounts for most of the world growth in GDP, too. They are sucking up most of the energy in the room, taking the 2 M BPD we used to use and taking the 6% from Europe, outbidding the rest of us.
