That isn't the main point of the piece, but its also correct.

The main point is that in the US we build rail that's actually useful and cost effective, freight rail, which we have more of than anyone else, rather than wasting a bunch of resources on the flashy, expensive, and "sexy" but less useful high speed passenger rail.
