It doesn't have anything to do with whether you and I share common ground, it has everything to do with finding a conservative candidate that is willing to state his/her intentions and then follow through. But of course a guy can't follow through if he isn't elected to office. When GWB was running he didn't tell anybody he believed in growing government. He just went ahead and did it despite the fact the people who elected him did not support that position. I expected BO to be a snake in the grass, but I don't expect that from republicans. Over the last few election cycles, I've developed the cynical opinion that there is little to no difference between the two major parties. I could be wrong? Perhaps we'll get lucky and some knight in shining armor will gallop to our rescue. One can hope!
