Options Buzz, Ascend's Takeover Rumour Ascend takeover rumours cropped up today, with Lucent and Northern Telecom named as the likely suitors. In addition, DOW Jones reported late this afternoon that Ascend's CEO Mory Ejabet told attendees of a Deutsche Morgan Grenfell conference that the company expects to make its numbers in the fourth quater. Ascend Stock jumped 13.5% today to 26 7/8. Carried along for the ride wre the December 25 and 30 call contracts, which traded heavily. Traders said implied volatility on the Ascend options had yet to show the movement normally associated with a takeover. Later this afternoon, the sidelines were crowded. [The Street.com]
