Someone once said the most important thing for a democracy is a free press; and I would ad an informed public. What Rachel and MSNBC is doing is educating people. It is like going to school. People can say we don't need schools, but I have noticed the ones who actually go to school do better intellectually than the ones who don't and they are also more apt to continue to learn. School teaches people how to learn. My hope is that MSNBC will draw a lot of minorities and others to learn enough about the basic issues to then figure out and wnat to continue learning. And provide good role models for minorities. There is a huge difference between Rachel Maddow and Rush Limbaugh. Good lord. Night and day. How can you say those two people in the same breath-lol?? MSNBC has provided people with a top notch news university we can watch to learn the true facts of life and its complexities. What too many people do not understand, and especiallly the right wing, are the complexities of issues. E.g. Chris Hays says:" if you drill right down the the bedrock of conservatism they do not like democracy". He is right and the reason they don't like it is they do not understand it. <<The problem with most Americans are that they are dumb. They don't read and keep up with the news, very poor in geography, Forget science and math. If they pick up the newspapers, magazines, go on the Internet and read, then they will not need Maddow or Hannity to shape their opinions. What you are doing is typical in that you are failing to see the broader picture and instead suggesting that Americans remain dumb and keep listening to Maddow. Ask another American and he/she would say we should keep listening to Limbaugh.
