But first generation immigrants (who we presume are "purebred" LOL) were never as much as 4% of the population:migrationinformation.org So when those first generation immigrants married "white" people, 96% of them weren't marrying new purebred white people. No. They were marrying established "white" people. The best and brightest people in the US were the ones whose families have been here the longest (like mine), and I know for a personal fact that they're not pure white. I've got the family stories. You don't because you're a rarity, a newcomer. The old guys bred with the Indians and were proud of it.Here's a couple generations of Pocahontas (purebred Indian) descendants: Pocahontas died in 1617. Since then 400 years have gone by. That's 20 generations. Assuming her descendants had two children each (and if you look at the above chart you'll see that they were a hell of a lot better than that), she would have 2^20 = 1,048,576 descendants now. And that's assuming just two kids. And it's only looking at one Indian. Reality is that American "whites" are mostly part Indian and part black. Give it another 5 generations (100 years maybe more now that people marry older) and the I could add "mostly part Asian". This is universal human behavior. It happens everywhere, all the time. Face the truth, in a 100 years or so, your children's children's children are going to be full blown mixtures. They'll have no idea if they're part Irish or Polish, except maybe their last name. They will just think of themselves as "American". -- Carl
