There's a difference between losing a document due to a bug or virus and losing a life.
i think the vehicle's program can and will be completely isolated, making it incorruptible. the vehicle could be separately connected to the internet for info purposes, and still have the driving program be completely isolated from the internet. count me among those who think that autonomous cars will be hundreds if not thousands of times safer than human driven vehicles. i think they will be proven to be so safe that letting humans legally drive on highways will be seen as reckless. after autonomous cars, our present accident rates will be looked back on in horror.
