How can you say it is "progress" or "working" when it is, after 30 years of throwing money at it, nowhere? By your estimation which rarely is grounded in reality. Solar is gaining albeit slowly. Its helping to make possible an event where the US will be a net exporter of oil by 2030. Every little frigging thing helps. I don't say we shouldn't invest in it at all, but it will be a very long time -- several decades -- before there is any potential for it to make a meaningful contribution. Far better to put the money somewhere else where there are actual benefits. Where would you spend the money?
