Another reason for a reverse split is related to Mutual Funds and Institutional Investors. Funds and Institutions normally will not buy stocks that sell for less than 10 dollars. I once had a company that did a 10:1 reverse split. The company is now trading in the 60 dollar range.

Stock Bull
