Sankar,
Associate Professor of Finance?

Do you really believe WDC sacrificed 60% of thier market cap in order to wait for a relatively minor componet supplier to "become confident" with GMR head production?
Sankar, we are talking 2 billion dollars here. Many organizations will take 10, 20, even 100 million dollar "risks" on future technologies but 2 billion dollars?
Sorry to sound mean but I am stunned by such a position.
WDC got caught short on a major product transition. It happens all the time. Investors inside and outside the company have paid 2,000,000,000.00 US dollars for the error.
BTW, over the years,Western Digital has positioned itself correctly for product/technology transitions more often than not. The sign of a well managed technology company. I hope management survives this debacle.

Sankar, PX, Bill

reading your posts I feel like an idiot: This learning curve is extremely steep.

Trying to cope,
