To be fair, this are littoral combat ships. They aren't intended to go up against the bigger ships, more likely pirates and shore based stuff. So the survivability question isn't a huge deal. And it isn't uncommon to have problems with things like the gun at this stage.

However, the helicopter is a problem. The biggest problem is there are two different classes, the Independence class as pictured and the Freedom class. Both have very similar specs and that usually means it is a contractor welfare program. Those usually don't do well.


My biggest problem is that we keep spending big money on these very expensive war trophies despite the fact we have more than enough armament to blow the world up several times and despite the plethora of other needs we have. When does it stop? The US has gone from an isolationist nation in the 1930s to this prolific war machine in the 21st century.

I need some balance to our status.
