I think if we quit spending on defence at the moment, our economy would collapse. It's a sad statement that the only government expenditure the Republicans feel is off limits is this one. Think of it as a pointless waste of money on "stimulus" and it will go down easier. It's the only "stimulus" the Republicans will allow. I hate that you are right on this issue. Given that that's the case, I think Obama should direct the military to get heavily involved in alternative energy production. Now this is a plan I can get behind.
