I don't see how they can work unless the route is entirely controlled, such as with a track.
no doubt there will have to be certain restrictions. cities will be a problem with such heavy pedestrian traffic. still, i think there will inventive and creative solutions to these problems.

There might be some places where an autonomous car would do well against other autonomous cars. Freeways, for example. The freeways I drive, however, might be problematic because they are steep, curvy, and covered with snow or ice a lot in the winter time. Also, what about reduced visibility, black ice, and other unpredictable road conditions?

I'm not ready to turn over control of my vehicle to a machine just yet. No doubt some huge changes in infrastructure and human nature will be necessary before they're a given.
