Those plans could have been maintained had the Dems been willing to give private insurance a bigger slice of Medicare/Medicaid in exchange for lower cost.

But the ideological divide made certain that Dems would not head that direction. The good news is some states, like the one I live in, are moving toward privatization of Medicaid anyway, which will end up saving taxpayers here a lot of money, I think.
