I don't think anyone was offended, including me. Thinking about my response made me think of my old man in a different way. Thanks for that. As a farm boy who dropped out of school junior year to enter World War 2, he didn't possess any financial knowledge to pass along. When I was a kid he once had to go to his employer for an advance because we had run out of heating oil. He had siblings and parents and so did my mom, but none had money to lend. His life was a struggle with money and may have made his alcohol problem even worse. In the end he evidently did teach me something, he taught me that there was no way I wanted to be a slave to money.
