Ted, no one in Europe decided, "Hey, let's impose austerity" just for the heck of it. They're imposing it because the economic recession has depleted the funds of their socialist state.

Not true. Most of the EU leaders that were in charge are conservatives and chose austerity.

People can argue whether austerity just makes things worse or not, but the fundamental problem isn't spending vs. austerity.

In the real world, that's the issue......austerity vs stimulus.

The fundamental problem is how big government hampers fiscal flexibility.

That's an ideological concern that Rs mind fuck themselves with over and over again. It has little importance outside your circle.

That is why austerity is the result and not the cause of Europe's problems.

That, of course, is incorrect. The Great Recession in Europe was caused by a variety of problems. However, austerity is the reason why most European countries are still in recession with unemployment rising.
