One bit of good news and the shorts who got in at 35+ will rush to
secure profits. Perhaps it's time for the company to announce
a stock buyback program like Xilinx did today. Due to the high
number of options granted to employees nowadays, companies must find
a way to deliver stock to those who exercise. The stock buyback
allows companies to fulfill this obligation and they will generally
make a comment such as "we feel our company is a good long-term
investment" when announcing such buybacks (Atmel did it 2 years
ago right around this time right around this price). If their
internal forecasts are looking good for the 2nd half of next year,
don't be surprised if they do it again.

It's the ave. daily volume that's up making it appear that the short interest has been reduced. Hasn't changed much for a few months.
