John - One of my hobby or should I say time wasting, is reading all the BS on the Web :))) LU is a customer of MRV, I think, for the optical diodes. I used to say that MRV shouldn't be interested in MRV because LU is not in the LAN business. The other day, I got lost in LU neighborhood and found out that they're now in LAN too. May be you can't develop a network solution for just WAN but you need to work with LAN too. With fiber everywhere, I think LAN and WAN will eventually become one.
