Do you ever read what you cut n paste? The very 1rst quibble of the advocacy of Uniformitariansm, the uniform existent forces in the deep time & vast epoch scale , the same throughout the universe/solar system, is accepted by anyone & everyone with even the slightest education. If you do not believe this, then the term "fundie" not only applies but sticks and needs no further confirmation. (you really must be the equivilent of living in some tribal setting in the rainforest then) Ben Stein? Who in hell is he? A nobody of any value at all in the bigger picture.

Yes, air is pretty mysterious for a lot of people! All primitive people thought that air was an invisible super person! After all. it was certainly invisible and yet it moved things! Like the raging tides of the sea, the vicious air was a god or a number of gods. As primitive thought became more refined and they understood how air (spiritus) left the body at death, they grew to think of air as spirit or soul. Let us be clear: for these primitive pre-scientific people, air as invisible life force of some kind was entirely rational given their utter ignorance. Of course, modern chemists know that air is air and is not alive but rustles leaves and blows down houses and infuriates the tides purely through the Laws of Nature! Air is not spirit. Air is not soul! All religions strike out on that! -g- Then we have those who think the bible is historical and depicts real events! LOL! But the truth is that those genealogies contradict what is known with certainty of the age and history of the earth and of living things! Every rational person on the face of the earth KNOWS without any doubt that the genealogies from "Adam" to "Jesus" to Ted Haggard are mythic and entirely without any basis in reality! We know there was no pentecost. We know there was no flood that covered the mountains and destroyed all life except for those people on the gopher-wood ark! This is a fairy tale--as is all of the bible. It is not controversial. It is not debatable. It is no more realistic than "Jack and the Beanstalk"! The earth is billions of years old! It is not a fairy tale from "Adam" to the rapist adulterer murderer (beloved of 'God') David...to Jesus and to Ted Haggart! Life is not a fairy tale. But what people think and write is often fantasy and fiction! Human sacrifice was a VERY VERY primitive belief system based on the idea that air (and all invisible forces)...LIVED! And they either hated and hurt you, or loved you and helped you. Guess what you had to do to make them be on your side? :-( Isn't it sad that it is 2013 and with all our Science and knowledge...BILLIONS of humans still think like children?? I think somebody said that forcing your children to become superstitious Nims (the bedfellows of brute beasts) was abuse? Is there a better word for destroying the gift of sentient and rational life? For destroying all that makes a child HUMAN?? What is a child without sense and reason?
