Inode,
You're facing a shortage of doctors, and you're going to "solve it" by discouraging people from becoming doctors?
The shortage of doctors is by design. Admissions to med school are strictly controlled by state representatives associated with the AMA. It's kind of disingenuous for the AMA to now flip-flop and say that the country is going to face a doctor shortage when they were the ones mostly responsible for it.

In any case, this shortage can easily be solved. Just lift the caps on med schools and import any additional doctors we need from other countries. Of course, it's gonna suck for the doctors currently in the profession, but they are all smart enough to see what was coming in the first place.
