I don't think the system in your link supports SDRAM. Just because it has a DIMM slot doesn't mean it supports SDRAM.

Also, I don't think Compaq is paying prices anywhere close to $165 for CPU + motherboard. My guess is that the wholesale price of standard Socket 7 motherboard with 512K cache is $50 - $75. MediaGX motherboards must be a lot less. Especially nonexpandable motherboad in Presario 2200.
