what would you have cut overnight to make up for $600 billion in revenue decreases and $100 billion in revenue increases that the President has almost no year-to-year control over?

That is easy. Cut all funds for foreign aid, Medicaid, welfare, food stamps, student loans and grants, privatize the Interstate system and air traffic control, let airlines, banks, the railroads and medical industry self-regulate, close the FDA and privatize the justice system.

Eliminating foreign aid alone would do most of it...

Z,
Less than $200 billion was stimulus spending.
Obama presided over an increase in spending from $3.2T to $3.8T in four years. This obviously outpaced the growth in the economy over the same period.

If Obama kept the increase in spending to that of inflation, the budget should have been only $3.46T today.

Plus the fact that revenues have not yet returned to the level of the Bush years is directly the responsibility of Obama. Yet here is Obama thinking the way to do that is to increase taxes, whereas Bush didn't have to.

Face it, the deficit is Obama's responsibility.
