I have never been familiar with homebuilders, so I cannot share my experience.

However many of my friends who owns houses in Tri-State Area (NY-NJ-CT), Boston, California are under water with no recovery in sight.

Homebuilders could be sustained by the rising stock market. However, nobody whom I know believes in this market to stay high for long.

One friend of mine, a professional trader, told me recently that a common belief among traders on the floor (NYSE) is "if not for QE, the Dow Johns would be in 12000 area".
