Not that high. Average for people in the top tax bracket is somewhere in the mid-to-high 30's, AFAIK.

You should see what rich Californians have to pay now, which is over 50% on federal and state combined. People like Phil Mickelson and Bill Maher are wondering out loud whether it's worth continuing to live here.
