They might only be too low sells if you replaced them with other stocks that didn't go on to do as well or better than the sold stock(s).
Sometimes it's hard to evaluate.
Sometimes the stock runs up in couple months or weeks (or days :)) after the sale, so it would have gotten large annualized returns if only held somewhat longer, so any replacement stock clearly underperforms.

Stub positions help a bit. I use them too. They do add some clutter though... so I am still deciding if they are worth the trouble. :)
