Lane:
Stock options play a big part in the inspiration of Dell
workers from supervisor on up.IMO Mikie would not like to see Dell become a $40 stock after the split, too discouraging....yet his
ideal is to equal or exceed IBM to the extent possible, one way being to have lots of shares outstanding.
So my guess is that the stock will split when there is resonable assurance that it will not go below $50 post-split.
That would mean perhaps $110,120 minimum , althought if business
and the market is booming, the split could be announced before it
actually reaches $110.
Just a guess:(ggg)
Sig

Lane, quit worrying about a stock split. Whether Dell splits or not makes little difference.

Look at Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE). It closed yesterday at $46,400 per share! Can you guess why the price is so high? It's because E.P.S. have grown steadily over the years, raising the value of the shares, which meanwhile were never split. Warren Buffet, who runs the company, doesn't believe in it.

Despite Buffet's adamant refusal to split the stock, BH has been a star performer for many yrs. Which would you rather have, a $20 bill or 400 nickels?

Good luck.

Geoff

Lane,

Yes, its a good possibility at these levels. I am hoping that its sooner than later because in the past the price appreciated so much by the time the split took place it was still too high for alot of us to get in.

Around 50-60 would be a nice price for alot of the small players like myself.
