If there's a major news event, you can count of MSNBC's Chris Matthews to go out of his way to suggest a connection to one of three things: 1) Racism; 2) some type of anti-government force; 3) The Republican Party. Lo and behold, during Monday's Hardball he briefly alluded to the possibility that Tax Day played a role. In the same hour, he speculated that if the perpetrator was homegrown, they were likely of the "far right" persuasion, and then suggested that maybe the eventually-debunked JFK library fire was the result of anti-Kennedy, anti-Democratic Party sentiment.

And the point of this tweet was? No one's really sure. It could have been a #humblebrag to remind you all that Luke went to coveted Sox games with father Tim Russert and veteran columnist Mike Barnicle? Or was it just a goofy and totally unnecessary "speculation" on the "possible" link between the Waco siege and Monday's bombings? Yes, both happened on Patriots' Day and so it's something to think about, indeed, but as a major network reporter Russert might want to hold off on waxing speculative and instead wait to report the facts.

In an attempt to out-Alex Jones Alex Jones himself, former congresswoman and Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney took to Twitter to promote a nutty website's "article" noting that the Boston bombings coincidentally-or-not happened to be on the same day as the police department's controlled explosions drill:

New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof apparently missed the memo on disaster etiquette. On Monday afternoon, he seemingly didn't think twice before tweeting out that the Boston attacks serve as a "reminder" that Senate Republicans have blocked the president's nomination of a new director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). Never mind the fact that the ATF hasn't had a permanent director since 2004 because Kristof saw an opportunity to indirectly blame Republican obstructionism for the gruesome bombings. He later deleted the tweet and offered up a non-apology.

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore was uncharacteristically cryptic about his thoughts on the Boston bombings, but it didn't take a mathematical genius to figure out just what he was saying here: This must be the work of anti-government, anti-tax Tea Party right-wing whatevers, because... just because.
