The Republican party needs to admit to itself, and to America, especially black America, that it has been working against their interests for fifty years.

They enthusiastically adopted the (D) Dixiecrat racists during the civil rights era, and turned the former Democrat "Solid South" Republican. They ran divisive, racist campaigns for fifty years, intended to scare white people into voting for them, to get them to both fear and look down on blacks and latinos. Until they do that and more, blacks and latinos are going to continue to see them as the enemy.

Not all racists are Republicans, not all Republicans are racists, but every racist with a major party ID is a Republican today. That isn't mere happenstance.
