Didn't he try to purchase a rifle but did not want to wait for the background check results?. Had he waited, I believe he would have gotten the rifle. Had he been a year older, he might have been able to get a pistol as well. This would seem to be inconsistent with him having guns freely available in the home. If he always intended to kill his mother with freely available guns in the home, why try to purchase a rifle? But then again, he was crazy.....so who knows. The point is.... him attempting to buy the rifle suggests several very different scenarios than what have been brought forward. I doubt we will ever really know and I don't trust anyone to
uncover the truth at this point.
