Neolib, my response was to CJ, who said that Jesus never mentioned infanticide or abortion. He was clearly implying that Jesus would have tolerated or condoned the practice.

That's crossing the line from non-believer into devil's advocate.

You and I are much alike in that. I think of Jesus as a great philosopher, largely misunderstood and not followed by most of official Christianity. I also believe that when Jesus said he was the "son of God" he meant that ALL humans were "sons of God", nothing more.

It's very difficult to follow Christ successfully and I've only known a couple of people who actually try to do it. It goes against everything our current materialistic society holds dear.
