Paul: RE: Speech recognition software. Did you enter the words that weren't recognized, to add them to the vocabulary base that could be recognized?

I am still hoping to hear from others about their experiences and their knowledge of how this is being used successfully.

BTW Glad to hear you want your INTC back. Just don't expect it to be below 50 in 1998. As John Hull said, earnings will drive the price.

Paul,

Didn't IBM just release a new version of their ViaVoice program? Is this the version you are describing or is it the original version?

Regarding sales of this kind of program rallying Intel soon, I wouldn't be looking at voice-recognition technology as a short-term phenonemon but as a major transition/inflection point in the history of computer use. The technology available today will appear primitive to the technology that will become available in the quite near future.

As the utility of the technology increases, the market will grow to encompass the many, many world citizens who currently find little need for computer technology. This increase in the size of the market will provide Intel and others with opportunities to make money that mosts analysts cannot imagine.

Re the sub-zero computer: It appears that this category will encompass even current high-end PII's by 1998. Therefore, the availability of voice recognition technology will continue to get pushed down to lower and lower price points. As the price declines, the market grows, so your assertion that "the sub-zero PC will rule the masses of the earth" is probably correct but that will mean an awfully lot of PII's will be sold in the future.

As to getting back into INTC, I wouldn't count on getting it much below where it is now. To many of us, the stock is already cheap and we would buy more now if we had the buying power. The market will not be passing Intel by for long. JMO.
