Am not going into the charmed theosophical aspects , its pretty clear what Saul was up to, John is pretty mythical as much as the messiah. Its a messiah & ethic that is based on visions of self reliance as much as self fulfillments. Of course when you look at the luxury & wealth of 12centuries of Papal nepotism plus selling free passes to the after life, well we see where it all starts & ends & truely based . Like i said , the human animal is very clever, men of power used vulgar superstition & their images to control the peasants & the Nobles.
