that number is a lie

If the government pays all the costs of the check - I'd consider the idea.

Hi bentway; Re: "The POINT is, that 90% of Americans are FOR expanded background checks."

It's mostly about how you ask the question and what sort of misinformation you feed to the public before polling them. The purpose of politicians is not to react to latest opinion poll. It's to be reelected. The reason Obama didn't get enough votes is because the politicians involved looked at the numbers and decided that voting with Obama on gun background checks was likely to cost them their jobs.

The money spent by the NRA is relatively minor. Their budget is around $200 million per year. They spent $24 million on the 2012 elections. If they were able to swing elections do you think Obama would have been elected? By the way, the total amount of money spent on the 2012 elections was around $6500 million. So the NRA spent about about 0.4% of the total.

It's like the left thinks that money somehow becomes more effective when it's in the hands of right wingers.

The whole thing reminds me of the debate on global warming. Even though the vast majority of the money is dumped in favor of the cause, the leftists believe that the reason the public looks dubiously on their (impossible) claims is because of a couple thousand dollars spent by an obscure right wing organization.

On the topic of gun violence, the lefty controlled mainstream media did nothing but blare advertisements for gun control for months. This was advertising that the NRA could have no hope of matching. And now it's failed miserably so the left is left doing nothing more than complaining about the NRA.
