What century is your mind in or which decade? Unless you mean reference to the stories about holy visions, miracles, redemption, and divine intervention being nothing more than “foeda superstitio” — vulgar superstition? What part of past centuries dating back to the dark ages of beliefs in demons & witchcraft did you miss in your history lessons? The brutal tortures of those accused of heresy on both sides and that demonizing leading to persecutions & wars which saw millions murdered over what would be regarded as only insignificant doctrinal rituals now? And the demonzing hasnt gone away in your case, some things & personalities never change one supposes , thats also part of the lesson of history.

Is it part of the geographical regional culture you were raised enforced by slanted sermons filled with thinly veiled demonizing that we see the historically grounding in some religious sects which you subscribe to?
