No I lost track of the class. There is so much new information coming at us I feel sometimes like I am swimming in it and barely able to keep afloat. I have found it interesting Lamarkian evolution is coming back as supplement to Darwinian evolution. What I find depressing is that most people are thinking on the surface and seem fine with that. The problem is that humans are irrational at the base and so if they do not probe below the surface they just drift along in the current of their experiences. The only thing we have to hold onto for a measurement of our sanity is the empirical method. It is what pulled us out of the Dark Ages and into the Age of enlightenment. Those bombers were a couple of stupid kids and nothing else. No different than two stupid kids that rob a 7/11. To elevate them to some sort of mystical Terrorist status we need to deny their miranda rights or habeas corpus to, is pure mid evil thinking. And to watch the people celebrating like we just defeated Hitler is disgusting.

What is an atheist? Here is some logic you might enjoy. People often don't think deep enough on this one. Most people think atheists are saying they know there is no god. They are not saying that. They are saying they do not believe there is a god. Charles Pierce once said: "all people are in one of three states of mind regarding any issue: belief, disbelief or doubt. And one cannot do anything about it. And they stay in that state until some new evidence comes up to change their state of mind. So atheists are not saying they KNOW there is no god, they are saying they do not believe there is a god. Agnostics are saying they are in a state of doubt. Atheists are not in a state of doubt, but I also not saying they know there is no god. So there are believers, people in doubt (agnostics) and people who do not believe (atheists). I personally believe sentient beings are pervasive throughout the universe and consciousness is a third system in the universe. Alongside organic an inorganic.
