No an agnostic does not believe either way, they don't know. They have doubt. I have no doubt, I jsu tdon't know. Think about it I am risking eternal damnation by being an atheist. I must be pretty sure-lol.

If an you see an elephant in your front room you believe it is there.

if you come home and see nothing in your front room you do not beleive there is an elephant in your front room.

But if someone you trust tells you there might be an elephant in your front room and to get home you are in a state of doubt.
