We are a nation of cattle ready for the slaughter. The only thing that we can hope for is that our overseers would rather keep milking us than have a feast of steak dinners. I wonder if that scene played out in any rich neighborhoods? Ok I don't really wonder as I think I already know the answer...

Being they let the dog run around, I guess there's no chance they took their shoes off before entering? Good luck getting any missing items back. But of course, they would never take anything. They're public servants.
