Some Christian principles are similar those of Greco-Buddhists. I learned about them a few years back. If you were on a spiritual quest and seeking new truths back around 33 CE, there were Grecco-Buddhist all along the Himalayan mountain belt from the Greek archipelago to China. For anyone who wonders where these ideas of pacificism and rebirth might come from in the rather bellicose and intolerant Western tradition, this is a good place to look. The Greco-Buddhists were well established along existing trade routes leading to Egypt, Greece and the rest of the Mediterranean. BTW, there are no major geographic barriers that would have precluded contact as the Silk Route had already been established well before Christianity began to spread.

Sorry, I meant the randomness comment to be strictly rhetorical That is my construct on the construct of everything, that and 42 of course ...and the Christian reference simply provides me with a personal point of reference in dealing with others In my opinion much of this resorting to a higher being is an outgrowth of control mechanisms employed by earlier civilizations to keep the natives in check as it were They are insufficient to answer the questions that arise as man actually does discover ever more of the physical universe surrounding him and become hopelessly distorted as the challenges focus on a narrowing body of what is unknown But they do continue to vex the human critter as the makeup seems to demand answers to everything and some things may be unknowable My response is I don't need to know
