The incident happened, I think, in the late 80's, early 90's. Ambitious young man living and working for IBM in NY took an assignment in Burlington, Vt. but maintained his home and family in NY. At some point got a job offer in Conn.(not IBM) which he took and lost less than a year later. He called Burlington and tried to get his old job back but was refused. As the story goes he drove from Conn. across Mass to the first town in Vt., ie Brattleboro, I think. Bought a gun there and committed suicide somewhere there. In thinking about it, it is very likely he had a Vt drivers license and maybe an address from Vermont....he may have rented an apartment while he worked there and returned home to NY on weekends...
